An excerpt from DEAR DAVE, 25
I found the scratched photo-booth pictures in a pile of family photos, which he took. I wanted to see them bigger, and asked artist Gary Schneider for a favor: make negs of them, then print them, which he did, beautifully. Wanting them bigger, I suppose I imagined I’d see him better, him and me better. It’s the usual, foolish wish. Make it bigger, see more, find out something, some hidden thing you’ve missed, an idea from which Antonioni’s Blow Up was derived.
