Harry Callahan

Harry Callahan (1912-1999) has been the subject of over 60 solo exhibitions, including retrospectives organized by The Museum of Modern Art, New York and the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. In 1951, he became chair of the Photography Department at the Rhode Island School of Design, and remained there until 1973. Callahan received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1972, and was chosen to represent the United States at the 1978 Venice Biennale.
